Why did Jesus follow in the footsteps of his cousin John? Why did he take up the task of telling God’s message to others? Why has preaching, proclaiming the good news, been an essential part of the Judeo-Christian heritage for several millennia? The answer, of course, is that there is power in proclamation. Just as we have said the last two weeks in speaking of prayer and scripture, preaching has the power to connect us to God and to help us discover what God wants to give us.
