如今我们谈到“独角兽”创业公司，基本都会想到中国和美国这两个市场。但在互联网普及之初，欧洲曾是重要的创业热土，而其中一个代表性国家的名字可能中国人更陌生——爱沙尼亚。
爱沙尼亚在独立之后，把互联网和数字化作为国家支柱性产业，大力鼓励相关创业，而这里也的确诞生了诸多“独角兽”，并且形成了一个创业生态。其中的代表就是曾经风靡全球的Skype。
2025年5月5日，Skype将正式停止运营。它曾是拥有数亿用户的产品，并被巨头追捧，但最后一步步沉沦。它的兴衰，都留下了诸多遗产。
