My name is Dave and last month I joined Young Vision, a youth organization that works in poor and neglected areas to try to reduce the number of children and teenagers dropping out of school. I have been a volunteer for twelve months now. We have found at-risk students, those who have skipped school, are undisciplined or have failed the course, and we give them academic support. We have provided them with help in the classroom or at home. All the volunteers are young people who have helped us to build their confidence and security. I have mentored several boys and girls in different subjects such as Science, Math, English and Spanish. I get to know my students, who they are and what they have experienced. Our goal is to be good role models. Visión Joven volunteers have made a huge difference in the lives of thousands of students and have transformed hundreds of schools and neighborhoods.
