God With Us: Later Letters, Week 12
Walking in Love
Love is central to who God is, and is a big focus of the Apostle John's theology. Of all the letters in the New Testament, John gives the most attention to the theme that love for others is proof of one’s love for God. Various forms of the word “love” occur 34 times in this short letter – significantly more than other New Testament epistles of similar length. As God's true children come to resemble Him more and more, they will show increasing evidence of God’s love in their character. Then, they will display that love by exhibiting genuine care for others.
