On Sunday we looked at five reasons that the neXt generation may chose to walk away from the Christian faith:
1. Compulsory Christianity – following Christ is a duty not a passion.
2. Cliché Christianity – knowing the right answers, but never internalizing them. No heart change.
3.Comfortable Christianity – believing that Jesus saves us from sin and for eternity, but not pursuing a relationship with Him that impacts your life today. Not enjoying an adventure, but managing your faith.
4.Cocoon Christianity – being so protected that you never get to see God at work in and through you.
5.Compromised Christianity – lack of integrity cast seeds of doubt in
others.
The Christian environment we’ve put in place to encourage our children toward a faith in Jesus could be the very thing that drives many of them away from God. Children are often driven away from a relationship with God by what we thought were the right things to do.
