Description

Flora and Abner Gonzalez are the owners of Flora's Restaurant in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They are second and third-generation Puerto Ricans. The restaurant is more than just a place to eat; the couple utilizes the space as an art gallery as well, displaying Abner's work, as well as that of others in the Lancaster community. Through their work at the restaurant, the Gonzalez family hopes to give Lancaster a taste of Puerto Rican culture. This extends beyond just the culinary experience; the restaurant is intended to create the sense of family and community integral to Puerto Rican life. Finally, Flora and Abner hope that through their work and lives at the restaurant they can display a positive image of Christian life.  (Melanie Arnold and Benjamin Thomas)
