Hello everyone and welcome back to The Beard and The Bun Podcast! 

In honor of suicide awareness month, I have decided to create a miniseries that shares my own struggles with suicidal thoughts and the methods I utilized to rid them from my psyche. The miniseries is called Tales From The Dark Side (TFDS).

LEGAL DISCLAIMER:  First and foremost, I am in no way shape or form, a licensed psychiatrist or doctor. I am a permanent work in progress and simply sharing the methods and tactics that have helped me personally. The techniques and methods discussed within this episode have had the focus group of one, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. These episodes are not a scientific report of brain function, but rather a framework for observing metacognition (awareness and understanding of one's own thought processes). These episodes do not serve as a replacement for therapy, so please consult with your doctor or psychiatrist before you employ any techniques discussed.

Legal aside, I want to make it clear that this miniseries is NOT for pity or to play victim. This is to show people that even the happiest and most positive people you know have their own internal battles. This is also to show that if you keep pushing through, it truly is worth it on the other side.

In this episode, I cover my first battle with suicidal thoughts, then I reflect and break down why I think I felt the way I did. I then cover what helped me overcome those thoughts, as well as my take on root causes of suicide, and I finish out with methods to help you win your own battles.

Being someone who has had his fair share of mental battles, this month means a lot to me, especially because I realized the true beauty of living and I want everyone else to experience this as well.

Please, always know that at least one person cares about you and your struggles; I do. Stay weird, have fun and ALWAYS embrace your different. Your different is what makes you truly beautiful and unique. Remember that.
