The year is 1935 the birth of "Swing with Benny Goodman. On December 4, 1935, in the Center Springs Community via mid-wife, Mattie L. Battle Seals and Lenward Seals become parents to a baby boy who they name Lenward T. Seals, Jr.
We hear music in the air!
Who knew that music would play or become such an integral part of his life? He's the descendant of Abraham "Abe" Seals and Fannie Henderson Seals from South Carolina and Alabama. After Emancipation, they remained in Homer; married and began raising their family which produced ten children. He was introduced to music at an early age at the Battle family home, playing the reed organ. His uncle, Napoleon Battle helped fine tune his piano skills.
