Brianna's background. How did her career path lead her to her current role in flight operations? (From Steve- I was hired because Nomadic has grown so much within the last year that there was a great need for additional resources to manage trip planning and operational oversight. Nomadic went from about 2 trips per week to 5-6 trips per week within a year) About Nomadic specifically- It was founded by Bob and Steve who have been operating in the ferry business for 20 years. Nomadic is the 2nd largest third party ops provider by volume, and the largest/busiest within the US. We are also the only operator who operates primarily with a core team of crews with in-house dispatching, planning, and support resources We do about 300 ops annually, working for almost every large lessor and multiple airlines We operate on 2 dozen different aircraft registries and over 80 countries. All of this is done with 7 full-time employees and a core group of 25 contract pilots. What are trips like from start to finish from an operational perspective. (We receive a request for a quote and will send the quote back. Once our quote is accepted by the company, we will get started with crew planning and sorting crew travel. Simultaneously, our dispatchers will begin working on permits (TSA waivers, RVSM LOA's, overflight permits, customs paperwork, etc.), on the morning of the flight crews are sent a full trip brief and flight plan to execute the flight. Each trip has someone in ops watching over the entire time who is able to handle any complications that may arise. While crews are inflight, we will also work on arranging their travel home. We never arrange travel until the crew is airborne. We also typically do not even start considering a trip until max 2 weeks prior to ETD. Two weeks out, we will begin throwing out potential crew matches, one week out we will apply for permits and confirm crews, a day or two prior we will arrange crew travel to the location) What is aircraft delivery? Are there different types of aircraft that companies specialize in? What is crew leasing? Test flying and aircraft acceptance. (Acceptance flights, or demo flights, are roughly two hour local flights where we perform a series of manufacturer and/or operator systems checks on an aircraft prior to lease acceptance or lease return. There are ground and airborne checks accomplished at this time to verify operation of primary and backup systems. Once the flight is complete, we prepare a report and list any squawks that need to be repaired or adjusted. Depending on the squawks of the aircraft, we may need to refly at a later date) How you can discover careers in this unique field of aviation.
