Description

Our conversation this week is with Rachel Hudson, Assistant Curator at Rowan Oak, historic home of William Faulkner.

Rachel found her way to Oxford, Mississippi for college, where her literary knowledge and some fantastic serendipity got her a role at Rowan Oak. You'll hear her talk about Faulkner's life and lore, her own experiences at Rowan Oak, and how we can still examine the old literary canon to explore our contemporary issues -- problems of the human heart in conflict with itself. We also discuss the lineage of feral cats in Oxford and more funny Faulkner stories, true or not. Rachel is committed to her work, and believes places like Rowan Oak gives people something that lasts. In a world of constant acceleration, we need somewhere to slow down, to remember.
