In this episode of White Canes Connect, Stacie and David talk with Ann Cunningham from Sensational Books and the creator of the Sensational Blackboard. Ann shares her personal story and discusses the powerful impact of the Sensational Blackboard on the blind community. The device allows individuals to create raised line drawings using regular paper and a ballpoint pen, making it accessible. The interview highlights the emotional experience of using the Sensational Blackboard and its potential for enhancing communication and creativity.
Ann discusses the size of the Sensational Blackboard, which is slightly larger than an 8.5 by 11-inch sheet of paper. There is also a smaller travel-sized version available. She also tells us of her 24 years as an instructor at the Colorado Center teaching art. Ann will be in the exhibit hall of #NFB23, so stop by her table, say hello, and check out the Sensational Blackboard.
