Description

Welcome to Helping The Brave, a 30-minute podcast hosted by veterans Ed Parcaut and Amy Tietmeyer, where we provide a supportive space for veterans to share their experiences and offer practical advice and resources to navigate post-military life.

In this episode, we're honored to feature Shawn Durnen, a US Army veteran who deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 555th Engineer Brigade, 14th engineer battalion out of Ft. Lewis, WA. Shawn has fought his own battles with mental health, homelessness, and being a single father for a decade. He will share his experiences and insights on how to overcome these challenges.

Shawn will also talk about Nine9Line's six program areas designed to create and foster a culture of competency and awareness in the needs and trends of our military community. In real-time, NineLine offers evidence-based practices in clinical and non-clinical-based services. These programs include NineLine Housing, a two-year transitional housing program that takes in formally homeless or at-risk military, veterans or family members and places them with the support of case management, on-site housing managers, and clinical therapy services. The goal is to help individuals gain independence at the end of the two-year stay.

If you're a veteran struggling with homelessness or mental health challenges, or looking for ways to support veterans in need, tune in to hear Shawn's story and learn from his experience. Join us as we explore NineLine's innovative programs with Shawn Durnen on Helping The Brave, only on our podcast hosted by veterans Ed Parcaut and Amy Tietmeyer.
