Elected as the Mayor of Gilbert, Arizona in 2021, Mayor Peterson previously served more than 5 years on the Town Council, after being elected to 2 consecutive terms from January 2015 to March 31, 2020 when she resigned to run for Mayor. Mayor Peterson served as Vice Mayor in 2018 and prior to running for Town Council, served on the Gilbert Planning Commission for over 14 years as well as was the Zoning Hearing Officer and sat on many Gilbert steering committees and stakeholder groups. Born in Massachusetts, Mayor Peterson resides in Gilbert where you’ll regularly see her popping up at local fundraisers with her husband and 4 pets from local rescues. Mayor Peterson shares her perspective on community building and outreach and reflects on the volunteering she did when she relocated with her husband and daughter to help her get involved and stay connected to her local community. With a love for solution oriented involvement, Mayor Peterson shares the challenges she’s had running for mayor and during her first year of being mayor and credit her husband to helping her stay committed to being a whole person.
