There are people in the world who carry such an energy into a room with them that if there was absolutely no light at all, everything would be glowing with their entrance. Our next guest can only be described as a literal light in this world, a woman who has given of herself to others, worked hard and is clearly passionate about being a role model for her family, community, and employees. The most incredible part about Mrs. Gayle Schmidt, owner of the only Buffalo Wild Wings Franchise in the Phoenix Area, is that she is so incredibly humble and wouldn’t have guessed for a moment that she was doing anything other than the right thing, what people should do, how people should act, and showing up that way consistently. Gayle shares the story of her marriage to college sweetheart Dr. Bill Schmidt after both graduating from dental school and going into practice together for 30 years where creating a consumer experience was much needed but not commonly explored. From Dr. Schmidt’s No Cavities Club, to spa treatments while in the chair, the Schmidt’s community practice was built on caring for their clients like they would their own family and backing up that sentiment with activities, events, and a consumer focused model. After selling their practice and moving back to the West Coast, Gayle and her husband opened the franchise in Arizona and transferred their love of people to a new industry. A strong believer that employers should train their staff so they can leave but treat them so well they don’t want to, Gayle has consistently won awards for creating a company culture that is empowering and rewarding. Built on the pillars of having fun and doing the right thing, Gayle believes that the key to happiness is to love without expectation, serve without wanting recognition, and caring even when others don’t .
