David Lean's final film, an adaptation of E.M. Forster's novel about a white woman who accuses an Indian man of rape, is--at best--deeply flawed, but features several great performances and stunning scenery. Too bad it also features Alec Guinness in brownface, not to mention the difficult subject matter.
