Welcome to the Furniture Industry Awards Gala Series. In this first episode, we share a video created by the Renaissance team that aired at the IHFRA's Furniture Industry Awards Gala on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at High Point University where Broad River Retail received the Retailer of the Year award.

The video focuses on a pivotal moment for Broad River Retail in 2015, detailing challenges and transformations that altered the company's trajectory. Charlie and fellow owner and COO Manny Rodrigues recall how perilous that time was, with odds stacked overwhelmingly against them, yet emphasizing the resolute faith that helped them persevere. Key events like an acquisition, an ERP conversion, and the groundbreaking of their corporate campus and distribution center were discussed, highlighting the immense difficulties faced during the early months of 2015 and the subsequent reinvention that followed.

The episode also dives into leadership changes, particularly Charlie's decision to redefine human resources as human capital, reflecting a more people-centered approach. The company's ethos of being a purpose-driven business is explained, particularly through the initiative of calling their employees "Memory Makers." This philosophy is reinforced by their partnerships with organizations like Ashley's Hope to Dream program and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, aligning with their purpose to furnish life's best memories. Charlie and Manny express immense pride in their Memory Makers who contributed to achieving the Retailer of the Year award, a testament to the dedication and hard work put in each and every day with a 'Win the Day' mindset.
