The way we conduct memorial services is one example. The inability to practice traditional grieving during Covid led families and funeral homes to adopt new technology. Even as life resumes in the new normal, many of the habits, innovations, and trends that started during Covid still carry on.

 

Dr. Camelia Clarke knows better than anyone how the coronavirus has affected our rituals around death. Dr. Clarke is the former president of the Wisconsin Funeral Home Directors Association, and led the statewide response to the pandemic during the initial months of the lockdown. As an industry leader and the owner of Paradise Memorial Funeral Home in Milwaukee, WI, Dr. Clarke saw the shifts at every level, as well as how these
