I've been on an evolution as financial advisor over the last 17 1/2 years and have ultmately arrived at the realization that financial planning will eventually evolve into a practice that helps clients fit their finances to thei life...not the other way around, which is where the profession is for the most part.
Once you find your passion, your calling, etc. it's time to take an honest look at your finances and figure out what you need an how to make the life you want work.
