Many people with dementia look like they have denial when they actually have something called anonosognosia. Anosognosia means total lack of awareness and it means that there is no amount of evidence, convincing, or reasonsing that will ever get them to understand that they have cognitive limitations. When you try to point out how they need help, it often makes things worse. In today's episode, I talk about what you can do when someone with dementia seems to be in "denial" and you need them to understand something.
