Michael Katz shares with NavTalk host Simon Prowse his background and journey to getting involved with Shake It Up and establishing the Catalyst Programme.
Michael's background is in the corporate world and running businesses with a long career with organisations such as Morgan Stanley, Commonwealth Bank and ING.
Just as Mike was retiring from the corporate sector, Parkinson's Disease became part of his family's life when his wife, Frederique, was diagnosed. Quickly coming from a general understanding of what Parkinson's Disease is to understand that Parkinson's is a very tough disease. It is an extremely difficult disease to diagnose with a clinical diagnosis and a series of tests completed by a neurologist. Mike was spurred on to learn more.
He explains coming across the Shake It Up Foundation, the red tape involved in fast-tracking funds to progress research into Parkinson's Disease, and how The Catalyst Programme came about.
