Have you ever considered that life feels overwhelming because you're not taking the time for your own maintenance? That's because the time to take a break is before you have a break down, not when you're in the middle of one.

I'm Janie Porter -- wife, mom of 4 and life coach -- and I spent years trapped in a mom martyr mentality that did not allow me to ask for help or even admit to myself that my life would be better with a little more support. It took years, but my husband and I eventually settled into a flow that enables me to take a 3-night solo retreat every quarter, so that I can show up as my best every single day -- both for my family and for myself.

Three nights away may not work for you, but there are so many other ways to take a solo retreat! In this episode, I'll share exactly how and why I do it, and I'll offer ideas for you to adopt part of this practice in your own life. Even some free ones! For me, this practice has been truly life-giving, and it's a huge part of my Happiness Formula.
