Advocate: a person who pleads for or on behalf of another

Born in Cameroon, West Africa, Roman Oben moved to the United States when he was four years old and grew up in Washington, DC. In 2002, he helped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers capture their first championship in Super Bowl XXXVII. During the off season, Oben earned a master’s degree in public administration at Farleigh Dickinson University in May 2001.

Roman Oben joined the NFL in 2015 as the NFL’s Director of Youth & High School football, where he drove the league’s youth football strategy and developed new programs to encourage participation in tackle and flag football. In February of 2021 he became VP of football development. Roman has been a leader and advocate for youth sports enrichment, receiving countless awards for community service both as an NFL player and off the field.

Roman truly is an advocate speaking and leading the way for not only the youth who are emerging but a trusted resource and voice within the Professional football ecosystem.
