Morgan continued our Vision and Values series in I Corinthians 15: 1-11.
Corinth was the center for everything back in the day. The very air was about social status, autonomy and all about the pursuit of pleasure. Morgan compared this to our world today. Are we being shaped by culture or by Christ? We are to be present in the world, but also be a distinct people. Greatness is not dominating people but serving people. Our identity needs to be in Jesus, not our jobs, our kids, our looks, etc.
How do we exist in Christ and in Wichita?
The gospel is for those IN the church as well as those outside the church. We need to always be swimming in the gospel. In good times and bad, we need to intentionally rehearse the gospel.
Morgan kept stating how we need to gospel the gospel to ourselves. And don't just hear the gospel, share it with others.
We then took a look at the gospel and what Jesus has done for the salvation of the world. I Cor 15: 3-7.
In Acts it talks about how the resurrection was not done in a corner. Jesus appeared to Cephas, Peter, the 12 and then more than 500. Isn't it reassuring that he went after Peter, the one who let him down. THIS is the gospel.
