Welcome to the season finale of Queerly Popular! Today, we are talking about the 2020 Lifetime holiday film The Christmas Setup. 2020 was a pretty big year for queer films because it had several major networks/streamers release holiday films with queer main characters, which I talk about near the end of the podcast. It was also taped during the beginning of the pandemic, which shows in the reduced number of characters present.

The movie stars a married couple (Ben Lewis and Blake Lee) who remeet after not seeing each other for years and are pushed together by Hugo's (Ben Lewis) mom played by Fran Drescher. In addition to talking about the plot and characters, I also talk about how refreshing it is to have a romance film without a whole lot of drama. It's not a classic, but it is fun and refreshing and I appreciate it for coming out when it did.

We will be back with the new season on February 6, 2025. Please be sure to pay attention to social media because I will be posting an announcement there about the schedule for the first half of 2025.
