Description

My name is Sheila Tully, and welcome to the very first episode of Our Modern Emotional Lives. This podcast will be looking at mental and emotional well-being from my perspective as a behavior change specialist and coach. I teach practical applications of the latest in neuroscience research and cognitive behavioral science to help people change how they think and feel.

There has never been a better time to work toward rewiring your brain (which is known as neuroplasticity) and recalibrating your thoughts and feelings! We are currently living in a time in which the world feels more uncertain than ever, and that obviously impacts mental and emotional health. I, in this opening episode, explain why I decided to launch this podcast, thought-work and what that means, and how to begin making peace with your mind.

I talk about why people tend to avoid doing that one thing that needs to get done, even when it's something that we actually want to do. I discuss the thought-feeling-behavior sequence (something that I teach), which means that our thoughts lead to our feelings, and our feelings lead to our behaviors. Listen in as I explain what that has to do with why we avoid doing that thing.
