You're probably thinking the important aspects of policing are firearms training and self defense. I am not taking away from those. They are crucial! However, it is a fortunate fact that those are not used every shift by officers across the country. If we did have to shoot our handguns or fight every shift, well, seems like it would be war zone rather than patrol.
Anyways, the two aspects of policing I will be discussing are respect and empathy. Yes, when we are dealing with people, these two aspects make or break an interaction and can help avoid a fight and assist in things going peacefully.
