Description

When Bill Schwanke first got involved with Missoula American Legion baseball in the early 1970's, the team was fighting to stay afloat. Low player turnout, financial difficulties, and a dilapidated Campbell Field all contributed to the struggle. But slowly, through Bill and his wife Lynn's efforts, and the contributions of many others, the program rebounded. Schwanke discusses these challenging times for the Mavericks, and also reviews his twenty plus year career as the original "Voice of the Griz", where he was the play by play announcer for over 1000 University of Montana Grizzly football and basketball games.
