Reducing out-of-pocket costs for patients is a critical skill for all clinicians. In this episode, we explore how residents and fellows can be leaders through promoting value-based care. It can be useful to think of unnecessary costs to patients as financial toxicity, and to understand the impacts of financial toxicity on the health of patients. We also discuss how to have cost conversations with patients and how to advocate for healthcare value.
