To improve and grow, change is required. Effective change involves thought and emotion. Whether you are learning to ride a bike, lead in a new direction, embarking on self-healing or getting in better physical shape or proposing a project to renovate the house, this will be valuable information.

There are several change models out there but this one deals with the emotional aspects of change. It's been adapted from Psychologists Don Kelley and Daryl Connor.

If you understand the emotional cycle of change, it normalizes the range of emotion that occurs and keeps you from going off the rails.

The Five Stages People Move Through Emotionally When Changing Behaviour :

1. Uninformed optimism

2. Informed pessimism

3. Valley of despair

4. Informed optimism

5. Success and fulfilment

Change will be an emotional ride but if you know the ride and embrace it, that is when real change happens.
