Clark and Mike (MJ) talk about how their first week of running went, and what to look forward to for next week. Clark starts off by saying he only measured the time for his slow runs, not pace nor heart rate. The workout schedule for Week 1 was 30 minute runs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Clark added in a 60 minute Sunday run because he was feeling froggy. Clark emphasizes it is important to get in a good rhythm and enjoy the runs when pace isn't a factor.
Mike asks Clark about how he prepares for cold weather running. Both agree that gloves are one of the most beneficial pieces of cold weather gear. Clark almost always prefers shorts to pants, but will sometimes run with a beanie and jacket if it is extremely cold. Mike hasn't had to worry about cold weather running yet because it was 70F all week in Austin, TX.
The duo discuss Week Two's workout schedule, which is nearly identical to the first week. The only difference is the 60 minute Sunday run is not optional (assuming no injuries). Clark suggests that it is okay to walk during that 60 minute timeframe to which Mike counters that walking should not be an option. By the end it seems like they both agree walking should only be done in the case of restroom breaks or injuries. Mike states that if you can walk for 60 minutes you should be able to run for 60 minutes, the difficult part is learning to run slow enough.
