Who was it that said making candles was easy? (probably someone who's never made a candle...)

Candle making can be challenging, especially at first, and when you're trying to learn the craft there is a lot of things to know and understand. Particularly when it comes to following the math involved so that you can make safe, reliable candles that perform well (and to be able to batch make candles).

In today's episode I'm sharing the 'simple' equation to calculate wax and fragrance oil (FO) percentages needed for your chosen vessel.

Here's the equation:
Wax weight needed: (net weight) / (100%) + (FO%) = wax weight
FO weight needed: net weight - wax weight = FO weight

Here's the example:
Net weight = 300g
FO% = 10%
Wax weight needed = 300/110% = 272.73g wax
FO weight needed = 300g - 272.73g = 27.27g FO
