Honestly, I think having preferences when choosing a partner is okay. Obviously being realistic is important but stating your non-negotiable characteristics and what you would like in someone is VERY important. I have a list of things I would love to see in my partner - it helps me to narrow down the list of people who shoot their shot; that way, I do not waste my time or theirs.
