Changing one's behavior isn't easy even when it concerns a preventable chronic condition. Health and wellness coaches are relatively new members of the health care team, but they are making an impact on patients who just want to be able to take a walk with a grandchild or those with diabetes seeking to reverse the disease. Health and wellness coaches like Elizabeth Ahmann, ScD, RN, PCC, NBC-HWC, help their clients clarify and implement health and wellness goals and sustain life-changing behaviors. Dr. Ahmann is a faculty member engaged in teaching and course development, in the Health and Wellness Coaching Program at Maryland University of Integrative Health. She is certified by the International Coach Federation at the Professional Certified Coach level and is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach through the International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching. Dr. Ahmann has a Masters degree in Nursing from Pace University and a Doctorate in Public Health from The Johns Hopkins University. She frequently presents at conferences on coaching, writing, research, evidence-based practice, ADHD, and mindfulness. ◘ Related Content International Consortium for Health and Wellness Coaching (ICHWC) ichwc.org/ The ICHWC Coach Directory ichwc.org/nbchwc-directory/#!directory/map American College of Sports Medicine exercise guidance: www.aliceveneto.com/1/upload/quanti…oping.26_1_.pdf A compendium of the health and wellness coaching literature journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.11…59827617708562 A systemmatic review defining health and wellness coaching: journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.745…gahmj.2013.042 Review of researches on smartphone applications for physical activity promotion in healthy adults.
