What would you do if the experts told you your son may never walk or talk? That was the reality Jeff and Becki Agar faced when Johnny was born with Cerebral Palsy. Thankfully, they had the foresight to decide that they would never place limitations on their son, but instead, let him discover what he's capable of.
Seeing his son's desire to be an athlete, Jeff was inspired to make that dream a reality, and Team Agar was born. Together, they have more than 200 running and triathlon races under their belts where Jeff pulls, pushes, or hauls his Johnny. After 5 attempts, Johnny, 28, and Jeff, 59, they completed their first Ironman.
Jeff's commitment and dedication inspired Johnny to accomplish something most thought was impossible- walk a mile. Even though the longest stretch he had been able to manage up until that point was 23 steps, he was committed, and began training for his own race. Now, Johnny walks the last mile of the races they do together.
Becki is the secret weapon of Team Agar, her love, perspective, and support anchors the team as they pursue their athletic accomplishments.
They are truly remarkable people. Today we talk about their story and book, which is a beautiful memoir and testimony to life and love of this family, Team Agar.
