The World Health Organisation recently released a new guideline warning against the use of artificial sweetners following the results of a systematic review, citing there may be potential undesirable effects from long-term use of non-sugar sweeteners, such as an increased body weight, risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and mortality in adults.
