It's a topic that doesn't get nearly enough attention. Or if it does get attention, it's often after something terrible rocks a community. Mental health is a sensitive topic that not everyone is comfortable with. But, we need to talk about it.
On this episode of Kernels, Marlene Eick, Director of Marketing & Communications at Ohio Corn & Wheat, talks with Nathan Brown, a farmer in Hillsboro, Ohio. Nathan is an outspoken advocate for mental health in agriculture and knows the struggles his fellow producers deal with first-hand.
Right now there is a state-wide survey available to growers through The Ohio State College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences. This survey is completely anonymous and confidential. The results will be used to identify what areas farmers need the most help in and how the College can be utilized.
