Let us tell an old story anew, and we will see how well you know it. The 2014 film Maleficent was definitely fairly polarizing upon its release nearly a decade ago because of the drastic changes that it makes to the beloved animated classic Sleeping Beauty. In this version, Maleficent still becomes a villain and curses the young princess Aurora, but, unlike her animated counterpart, she thereafter finds redemption. Some viewers did not like this, while others (like myself) loved it. Where do you stand? Do you like the more complex and nuanced anti-hero that Angelina Jolie gives us in this pivotal performance, or do you prefer the more iconic maniacal and ruthless embodiment of evil that Eleanor Audley gave us more than six decades ago?
