Her mother died six weeks ago as a result of not having access to the health services she needed. Castillo then asked Harris: "What are your plans, or do you have plans, to support that subgroup of immigrants who have been here their whole lives, or most of them, and have to live and die in the shadows?" Harris responded by discussing the need for both political parties to work together on immigration issues. She then spent the rest of her response talking about the anti-immigrant border bill that she attempted to pass, which increases funding for border patrol agents. Harris often boasts about having received support from Republicans on this bill.
