In one video published by 404 Media, a Border Patrol agent confronts a teenager in Chicago and says, "Man, if you just tell me you were born here and give me an ID, you'll be good." The teenager says, "I was born here, but I don't got ID." The agent then says to another agent, "Can you do facial?" The second officer then approaches the boy, gets him to turn around to face the sun, and points his own phone camera directly at him, hovering it over the boy's face for a couple seconds. The officer then looks at his phone's screen and asks the boy to verify his name. It's not clear what app the agents are using. Previously, federal agents were known to have been using Mobile Fortify, an app built on a database of 200 million images, which can return the subject's name, date of birth, their so-called "alien number," and whether they've been given an order of deportation.
