In a viral social media video from Charlotte, an elderly White woman notices two immigration agents getting out of their cars in front of her house and approaching her Latino workers. She then confronts them, carrying a gun, and the agents get back in their car and leave. In another video, protesters confront federal agents and, using a loudspeaker, play recorded audio of the screams of victims of ICE agents. In Raleigh, hundreds of protesters had organized marches within hours of ICE arriving in their city. In the middle of the night, activists slashed the tires of several ICE vehicles that were parked at a hotel. Thousands of young students have skipped school for several days and have been marching in protest. A grocery store, Compare Foods, announced it would be offering free delivery to keep people from having to leave their house while federal agents are in the city.
