Un jurado ha absuelto a un hombre que fue arrestado por ICE por remolcar el vehículo de un agente porque éste estaba estacionado ilegalmente. En Los Ángeles, Bobby Nuñez, un conductor de grúa, se enfrentaba a 10 años de prisión tras ser arrestado por ICE por remolcar un vehículo federal durante la caótica detención de la influencer de TikTok Tatiana Mafla-Martinez a principios de este año. Agentes de ICE habían estacionado su vehículo en la entrada de un complejo de apartamentos para impedir que Mafla-Martinez saliera. Mientras los agentes estaban distraídos, Nuñez remolcó el vehículo una cuadra para retirarlo de la entrada. El vehículo fue devuelto a ICE dentro de 13 minutos, pero fue acusado de robo de propiedad federal. A jury has acquitted a man who was arrested by ICE for towing an agent's vehicle because it was parked illegally. In Los Angeles, tow truck driver Bobby Nuñez faced 10 years in prison after being arrested by ICE for towing their vehicle during the chaotic arrest of TikTok influencer Tatiana Mafla-Martinez earlier this year. ICE had parked their vehicle in the driveway of an apartment complex in order to prevent Mafla-Martinez from leaving. When the agents were distracted, Nuñez towed the vehicle one block away to remove it from the driveway. The vehicle was returned to ICE within 13 minutes, but he was charged with theft of federal property. After the jury determined that Nuñez was not guilty, the government's prosecuting attorney Bill Essayli said via social media, "The jury may have acquitted him, but guess what Bobby wasn't doing the last few months while awaiting trial: obstructing our ICE agents. (…) We stand behind the charges and would file them again if he engages in the same conduct," implying that ICE would arrest and charge someone for doing something that they knew was not illegal.
