On Wednesday morning, an ICE agent shot and killed a motorist in Minneapolis. Videos taken by bystanders with different vantage points show the agent approaching a car stopped across the middle of the road, grabbing the handle, and demanding the driver open the door. The car moves in reverse for a short distance, then begins to pull forward. A different ICE officer standing in front of the vehicle pulls his weapon and immediately fires at least two shots into the car at close range, jumping back as the vehicle moves toward him. The car then sped into two others parked on a curb nearby before crashing to a stop. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the incident as an "act of domestic terrorism" on the part of the driver, who was a US citizen and was acting as a legal observer during the mass ICE operations in the city. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey referred to Kristi Noem's statement as "garbage," and added, "ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite."
