sido arrestado y puesto en proceso de deportación únicamente debido a su activismo
político en apoyo de Palestina. El lunes, el juez federal de Nueva York,
Jesse Furman, bloqueó la deportación y dijo que Jalil no debe ser deportado,
a menos que y hasta que un tribunal diga lo contrario. Permen también ordenó que
Jalil fuera enviado de regreso a la ciudad de Nueva York. Actualmente se encuentra
en el centro de detención de Ays -Lazal, en Louisiana. Un día antes de ser
arrestado, Jalil había enviado un correo electrónico a la administración de la
Universidad de Colombia diciendo, "No he podido dormir temiendo que Ays o un

Khalil, a U .S. permanent resident and Columbia University student who was arrested by
ICE last Saturday without being charged with a crime. A Social media posts by
President Trump confirmed that Halil had been arrested and put into deportation
proceedings solely due to his political activism in support of Palestine. On Monday,
New York federal judge Jesse Furman blocked the deportation and said that Halil is
not to be deported unless and until a court says otherwise. Furman also ordered to
have Halil sent back to New York City. He is currently in the LaSalle Ice Detention
Center in Louisiana. One day before he was arrested, Khalid has sent an email to
the Columbia University administration saying, "I haven't been able to sleep, fearing
that ice or a dangerous individual might come to my home. I urge you to intervene
and provide the necessary protections to prevent further harm."
