El jueves, el presidente Biden se dirigió a las protestas estudiantiles pro Palestina en todo el país en un discurso desde la Casa Blanca. El objetivo de su discurso fue criticar las protestas por ser ilegales y lo que llamó "violentas". El presidente dijo varias veces que los manifestantes estudiantiles eran violentos, pero no hizo ninguna mención al grupo de personas que atacó violentamente a los estudiantes de la UCLA el martes, ni a la policía que los atacó en la madrugada del jueves, con balas de goma, spray de pimienta y porras. Varios estudiantes resultaron gravemente heridos tras recibir disparos de balas de goma en la cara. El presidente dijo: "La disidencia es esencial para la democracia. Pero la disidencia nunca debe conducir al desorden". Gilad Erdan, embajador de Israel ante las Naciones Unidas, dijo en un discurso el viernes: "Siempre hemos sabido que Hamás se esconde en las escuelas. Simplemente no nos hablamos dado cuenta de no es solo en las escuelas de Gaza. También están en Harvard, Columbia y muchas universidades de élite". Israel ha justificado los bombardeos de escuelas, hospitales, campos de refugiados y de toda la Franja de Gaza afirmando que los combatientes de Hamás se escondían en esos lugares.
On Thursday, President Biden addressed the nationwide student pro-Palestine protests in a speech from the White House. The focus of his speech was to criticize the protests for being unlawful and what he called "violent." The president said several times that the student protesters were violent, but did not make any mention of the large group of people who violently attacked the students at UCLA on Tuesday, or the police who attacked them in the early hours of Thursday, with rubber bullets, pepper spray and batons. Several students were seriously injured as a result of being shot in the face with rubber bullets. The president said, "Dissent is essential to democracy. But dissent must never lead to disorder." Gilad Erdan, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, said in a speech on Friday, "We always knew that Hamas hides in schools. We just didn't realize it's not only schools in Gaza.
