Israel ha comenzado su invasión de Rafah a pesar de las advertencias de todas las principales organizaciones de derechos humanos y del gobierno de Estados Unidos. Israel has begun its invasion of Rafah despite the warnings of every major human rights organization and the US government. Since October 7th, Israel has been bombing and laying siege to Gaza, starting in the North and moving South over the course of 7 months. Surviving civilians have been moved to Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza, making it one of the most densely populated places in the world with one and a half million people in 25 square miles. For this reason, if Israel bombed and invaded Rafah in the same way it has done to other cities in Gaza, it could be one of the worst human rights disasters in history. Ahead of the invasion, the Israeli army dropped thousands of flyers in Rafah warning civilians that if they do not move westward away from Eastern Rafah they will be bombed. Since October 7th, Israel has warned civilians about where it was going to bomb, but has always eventually bombed the place it told the civilians to go to. Israel also shut down the offices of Al-Jazeera, the largest news organization in Gaza, before beginning the invasion. Hamas has announced it has accepted a ceasefire deal from the 3rd party negotiations of Qatar, but it is not known if Israel has agreed.
