US officials have announced that the so-called humanitarian aid pier in Gaza, built by the US military, will be permanently dismantled as soon as next week. In March, while the Biden Administration was facing criticism for funding the Israeli genocide of Palestinians, President Biden delivered the annual State of the Union Address. Facing pressure from worldwide protests, human rights organizations, labor unions, the United Nations, and the International Criminal Court, it was expected that Biden would address the criticism. However, he did not address the tens of thousands of civilians killed, or the formal accusations of genocide, or the mass protests all around the world. Instead, he made an unexpected announcement about plans to build a pier on the Southern coast of Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. This announcement confused many experts and left many questions unanswered, mostly about how the project would be viable. In June, Israeli and US military forces used the pier to disguise themselves as aid workers and massacre 300 Palestinians at the Nuseirat refugee camp. The pier will be dismantled by the US military this week. The cost to US taxpayers was $320 million.
