On Monday, the Democratic National Convention began in Chicago. Delegates from the Democratic Party, who represent the voters in their districts, will vote on party policy and confirm the nomination of Kamala Harris for the US presidential elections in November. About 30 of the delegates represent "uncommitted" voters. During the primaries, about 700,000 voters who would normally vote for the Democratic Party candidate voted uncommitted instead. If there are enough uncommitted voters, the representative for that region is not obligated to support the party's nominee, and would ideally represent their voter's demands at the Democratic National Convention. In this case, the uncommitted voters movement was in protest of the genocide in Gaza. On Sunday, protests in dozens of cities in the US and around the world called for "Not Another Bomb" to put pressure on Harris to stop sending weapons to Israel and therefore funding the genocide of Palestinians. Tens of thousands of people are expected to protest outside the convention.
