On Friday, ICE agents shot and killed Silverio Villegas González, an undocumented 38-year-old man from Michoacán, Mexico. Officials immediately released information to the media, saying that Villegas González had attempted to hit officers with his car, and that one agent was "dragged a significant distance" and had to shoot Villegas González to save his own life. However, security footage shows two plainclothes agents approaching the vehicle which had been blocked from moving by an unmarked SUV. The vehicle eventually reverses away from the two agents, and the officer on the passenger side points his firearm at the vehicle. Villegas González then drives forward away from the agents, not towards them, and the agent on the passenger side aims his weapon at the back of the car. In a separate video, two gunshots can be heard. The second agent is not visible during the shooting, and it remains unclear which agent fired their weapon. Videos on social media show that the car crashed into a semitruck about 100 feet away from the initial traffic stop. The two agents then ran to the scene, apparently uninjured.
