A kid from Jersey moves to California and gets beat up so badly he should be hospitalized, but because his girlfriend is Elizabeth Shue, he sucks it up and goes to school anyway.
He is also befriended by a wise Japanese man who teaches him how manual labor will allow him to kick some ass in return.
You're the best around and nothing's ever gonna keep you down while we watched 1984's The Karate Kid to see if it's a good movie or a bad movie.
