This is episode 8 of the Love, Hope, Lyme podcast.
When Fred Diamond decided to learn more about the Lyme disease that afflicted someone he loved, his life changed.
He read every book on Lyme, joined Facebook groups, attended webinars and podcasts and quickly realized that he knew hardly anything about what chronic or persistent Lyme disease survivors go through on a daily basis.
His popular book, "Love, Hope, Lyme: What Family Members, Partners, and Friends Who Love a Chronic Lyme Survivor Need to Know" offers those who love someone with Lyme ideas and tips to support this beloved person. It also helps Lyme survivors know how to ask for support.
The e-version of the book is always free for Lyme survivors. Just reach out to Fred on Facebook or LinkedIn. The print copy can be ordered here.
On today’s podcast, Fred interviews Jody Hudson, author of "My Promise to Alex."
When Fred wanted to learn more about Lyme disease, he was shocked to find many parents who were caring for children afflicted with tick-borne illnesses. He met with many of them to learn about the challenges they faced finding answers about what was happening to their children. In many cases, the medical resources they went to couldn't help so they formed networks to find answers themselves.
One person he met was Jody. In her book, Jody documented the years of struggles that she and her daughter faced. After Alex passed, Jody devoted her energy to helping others find anwers, hope, and medical solutions and created the Alex Hudson Lyme Foundation.
Listen to her insights on how to support your children with tick-borne illnesses.
